Can women with PCOS become pregnant?

Yes. Many women with PCOS conceive naturally or with appropriate fertility treatment.

Does PCOS always cause infertility?

No. PCOS can cause irregular or absent ovulation, but infertility is not inevitable.

Can PCOS increase pregnancy risks?

PCOS is associated with increased risk of certain pregnancy complications, including gestational diabetes and hypertensive disorders. Individual risk varies.

Should PCOS be treated before pregnancy?

Preconception assessment can help identify metabolic, reproductive and medication-related issues and optimize health before conception.

Can I take PCOS medicines during pregnancy?

Not all medicines used for PCOS are appropriate during pregnancy. Medicines should be reviewed when planning pregnancy.

Does metformin need to be continued during pregnancy?

This depends on the individual clinical situation. Metformin should not be continued or stopped automatically without discussing the reason for treatment with the treating doctor.

Can PCOS symptoms improve during pregnancy?

Pregnancy changes reproductive hormone patterns, so symptoms and laboratory findings may change during pregnancy. PCOS itself does not simply disappear because of pregnancy.
