What happens to diabetes after delivery?

Women with GDM often experience improvement in blood glucose after delivery, but future diabetes risk remains increased.

Should I continue thyroid medicine after delivery?

This depends on why the thyroid medicine was prescribed and the dose required during pregnancy. Thyroid function should be reassessed rather than stopping treatment automatically.

Can thyroid problems occur after pregnancy?

Yes. Postpartum thyroiditis can cause a period of hyperthyroidism followed by hypothyroidism in some women.

Can pituitary problems occur after delivery?

Rarely, severe blood loss during childbirth can damage the pituitary gland, leading to hypopituitarism.

Can diabetes occur after pregnancy even if I had only GDM?

Yes. Previous GDM increases the future risk of type 2 diabetes, making long-term screening important.

Can PCOS symptoms return after pregnancy?

PCOS is a chronic reproductive and metabolic condition. Menstrual and metabolic features may become apparent again after pregnancy.
